چکیده
Methods Prospective and observational study. We included patients older than 18 years old, admitted to ICU and undergoing mechanical ventilation, who have been presented an acute failure of unless two organs. At admission, and on day 3 and 7, we determined: -Immunophenotypic lymphocyte subpopulations (ILS) (T, B and NK), concentration of immunoglobulins in serum, and expression of HLA-DR on monocytes and FOXP3 on T cells. Mini-bronchoalveolar lavage for bacterial, viral and fungal culture, detection by polymerase chain reaction of cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus and Aspergillus spp, and determination of galactoman. Serum sample to detect immunoglobulins (IgM and IgG) against HSV and CMV, and quantitative measurement of CMV DNA.In those patients diagnosed and treated for nosocomial or opportunist infection, we evaluated the same variables, the day of infection and after 72 h. All results are expressed as the median with interquiartile. Statistical analysis was performed using the Mann-Withney U test or kruskall-Wallis analysis. Data will be processed with SPSS 16.0.

Evaluation of Nosocomial Infection in Patients at hematology-oncology ward of Dr. Sheikh children’s hospital
Background Infections in critical care unit are high, and they are serious hospital problems. Infections acquired during the hospital stay are generally called nosocomial infections, initially known as infections arising after 48 h of hospital admission. The mostfrequent nosocomial infections (urinary, respiratory, gastroenteritis and blood stream infection) were common in patients at hospit...
متن کاملNosocomial pneumonia, including ventilator-associated pneumonia.
Patients with nosocomial pneumonia have evidence of immunosuppression. The most obvious defect in immunity is the loss of mechanical barriers with an endotracheal tube. Only a third of colonized patients on ventilators develop pneumonia, however, suggesting that altered immunity is more extensive. This subgroup of patients tends to get multiple synchronous and sequential infections. The exact m...
متن کاملOnce versus thrice daily colistin in critically ill patients with multi-drug resistant infections
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the procalcitonin (PCT) changes in two different high-dose colistin regimens in the treatment of multi-drug resistant MDR gram negative infections in ICU patients. Method: This is a prospective study of adult ICU patients with bacteremia and ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) caused by MDR gram negative pathogens. Patients were assigned to t...
متن کاملEvaluation of patients' characteristics by diagnosing nosocomial infections and its relationship with the rate of antibiotic resistance in Amir Al-Momenin Hospital
Background: Nosocomial infections account for about one-third of all hospital deaths. These types of infections are becoming more and more important, and are a serious challenge for the health system of countries. Investigating and controlling nosocomial infections is now a worldwide priority. In this regard, this study was designed to evaluate the characteristics of patients with nosocomial in...
متن کاملIncidence and Microorganisms Causing Nosocomial Infections in Ghotbeddin Burn Center of Shiraz, Iran, 2000-2001
Burned patients are at risk of acquiring infection because of their destroyed skin barrier, suppression of immunity, prolonged hospitalization, and invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Most of the studies on infections in burned patients are focused on burn wound infections, while nosocomial device-associated infections in this patient group are not described well. Therefore, the aim...
